A “luxury glamping experience” could be on the way for visitors to the picturesque Slieve Blooms, should new plans get off the ground.
A company called Slieve Bloom Escapes Ltd submitted plans last month for a new glamping/camping site at Pigeonstown, Cadamstown, which is located between the villages of Kinnitty and Cadamstown.
What’s planned is a main reception/administration building, eight accommodation or glamping pods, a camping area with space for tents and campervans, and 14 parking spaces.
With hopes their planning application will be successful, the applicants say in the planning documents that their “vision would be to market this development as a luxury glamping experience” for the consumer.
They believe “the site is in a perfect location” with many local attractions and beauty spots nearby which visitors would benefit from.
In turn, they hope that their venture would benefit other amenities and local businesses in terms of attracting more visitors and generating extra revenue for other businesses.
Should the proposal progress, the company hopes to employ two full-time staff, and they “plan to create more employment as we potentially expand” in the future.
A large townland, Pigeonstown borders the R421 road linking both Kinnitty and Cadamstown and comes close to parts of Kinnitty Forest.
Giltraps already operate a glamping facility in the heart of Kinnitty village.
Offaly County Council is due to announce a decision on the new glamping facility proposal by January 19.
