Saudi Arabia’s Neom is set to open the world’s first cognitive, smart city. One of the city’s newest developments is the Trojena district, where the first glamping eco-retreat has been announced. Collective Trojena, managed by Collective Retreats, will welcome guests in 2026 for nature-laden stays in an ultra-sustainable property. The retreat will have 60 open-air guest rooms, meeting spaces, communal campfires, and culinary experiences, as well as direct access to outdoor activities that include skiing and snowboarding, high-altitude training, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, and water sports.
Collective Trojena aims to provide a cultural program that’s centered on film, art, music, and food, giving guests an authentic experience of Trojena’s snowcapped mountain district. The aim is to change the way people travel, according to Collective Retreats’ chief executive Peter Mack, by offering an extraordinary guest experience while preserving the environment. The glamping eco-retreat is the brand’s first foray into the Middle East, joining Collective Retreats in Colorado, Texas and New York.
Trojena district is focused on sustainability, with a combination of solar and wind energy powering the mountain destination. The district is also developing technology in water desalination and brine processing to achieve zero waste.
The new glamping eco-resort in Saudi Arabia’s Neom provides a unique opportunity for nature-loving travelers to indulge in luxurious accommodations while experiencing the beauty of the outdoors. With sustainability at the core of the Trojena district, Collective Trojena aims to demonstrate that luxury travel should not be extractive and that it is possible to provide an extraordinary guest experience while preserving the environment.
As we continue to look for ways to reduce our impact on the environment, sustainable travel options are becoming increasingly popular. As travelers, we can make a difference by choosing sustainable accommodations and activities that are in line with our values. Let us support efforts that help to preserve the beauty of our planet while enjoying what it has to offer.
